La Leche League of Clearwater meets every first Tuesday at 10 am and every third Wednesday at 7 pm at the nursery of the Church of the Good Shepherd at 639 Edgewater Drive in Dunedin.
We encourage mothers who are pregnant to come. Leaders are available between meetings for questions and especially for when your baby arrives as well. You may call or email, whatever suits you. All women and children are welcome. We also have an email list (at the above link) that will give reminders and breastfeeding info and for chatting as well. The meetings are informal and very kid-friendly, as moms are free to roam about to meet their kids needs during the meeting. There are four broad topics covered at meetings though no two meetings are ever the same, depending on the participants. It's more a discussion than a class. No RSVP necessary. The four broad topics in the series are: The Advantages of Breastfeeding, Bringing Baby Home: The First Six Weeks, The Art of Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties, and the last one is Nutrition, Introducing Solids and Weaning. Membership is encouraged for those who feel they benefit from the meetings but is optional. Memberships at $40 a year include a subscription to the quarterly publication for and by breastfeeding mothers. Another level of membership available without the magazine is $25. The meetings are a great place to hear others' experiences on those crucial early days of breastfeeding and beyond, as well as get the recommendations for success and the latest information on breastfeeding in general from La Leche League.
